Ainex's ENAD is an AI-based software as a medical device (SaMD) that supports clinical decision-making by detecting lesions in real time during upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy and providing type-specific diagnostic results.
By having AI analyze endoscopic images in real time to identify abnormal areas and present diagnostic information alongside them, ENAD contributes to improving the accuracy and clinical utility of gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Developed through four years of joint research with Seoul National University Hospital, ENAD helps minimize variability in examination quality that can arise from differences in clinicians' expertise, fatigue, or examination time — supporting the establishment of a more consistent and accurate endoscopic diagnostic environment.
ENAD is currently deployed in more than 200 medical institutions in Korea and abroad, and is being used across a wide range of clinical settings — from tertiary and general hospitals to small and mid-sized clinics.
In particular, ENAD's differentiated strengths include its all-in-one system that supports both upper and lower gastrointestinal lesion detection and diagnosis on a single platform; its high compatibility with major endoscopy equipment from Olympus, FUJIFILM, PENTAX, and others; and its quality management functions that automatically monitor examination progress, blind spots, and examination time.
ENAD's technological capabilities have been formally recognized as the first and only software of its kind in Korea to receive Class 3 medical device approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) covering the entire scope of upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Its clinical effectiveness has also been substantiated through numerous studies published in major domestic and international journals. Notably, a multicenter clinical study involving Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital and Korea University Anam Hospital confirmed that AI-assisted colonoscopy using ENAD improved the adenoma detection rate (ADR) by 16.2 percentage points — further validating ENAD's clinical value.
